Amongst the various kinds of contracts for teaching and research staff at public universities,
Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, of the University System
provides for the figure of emeritus professors, who may be appointed by universities in accordance with their statutes, from amongst retired professors who have given outstanding service to the university.
As part of their internal procedure for appointing an emeritus professor, public universities include a preliminary assessment by ACSUCYL of the teaching, research and other merits accumulated by applicants.
For this purpose, the Agency includes this assessment programme in its Catalog of Evaluation Service, such that universities maythis service which, subsequent to approval by ACSUCYL’S Board of Directors and the signing of the corresponding contract, will give way to the assessment process.
ACSUCYL conducts assessment of the applications for evaluation submitted to universities through the Teaching Staff Assessment Committee , which is responsible amongst other tasks for:
Planning and coordinating the assessment process.
Designing, approving and publishing the assessment criteria and methods.
Adopting joint final assessment decisions.
In order to perform its tasks, the committee draws on the advice provided by panels of experts.
