The Quality Assurance Agency for the University System in Castilla y León (ACSUCYL) today published in the official gazette of Castilla y León (BOCYL) the call for assessment for the positions of assistant lecturer holding a PhD, lecturer holding a PhD, and private university lecturer, prior to universities in the regions hiring for these posts.
As a prerequisite to being hired in public universities for the positions of assistant lecturer holding a PhD and lecturer holding a PhD, the Universities Act (LOU) requires candidates who hold a PhD to successfully undergo an assessment of their teaching activities. In private universities, the requirement is for a positive assessment of 60% of the teaching staff who hold a PhD.
The Quality Assurance Agency for the University System in Castilla y León (ACSUCYL) has been issuing an annual call since 2003 for those interested in undergoing this assessment. The process spans academic background, teaching activities, research activities, professional experience, and other merits. Through an agreement by ACSUCYL’S Board of Directors, at its meeting on 27 July 2021, the call corresponding to 2021 was launched.
The
Convocatoria (1.124 kbytes)
, establishes that the period for submitting applications opens on 17 September and concludes on 31 October 2021. As both 31 October and 1 November are non-working days, the final working day for submission of applications is 2 November 2021.
In their applications, interested parties must indicate which post(s) they wish to be assessed for. The required documents to be submitted must include a standardised curriculum vitae, the documents accrediting having been awarded a PhD (required by current legislation for accessing these positions), and the academic record accrediting a university degree and the associated grades/marks. As regards merits, only those obtained prior to the conclusion of the deadline for submission of applications, and which can be accredited, will be taken into consideration.
One new aspect vis-à-vis previous calls is the requirement to submit an official certificate for having headed and/or participated in R&D projects, in those instances in which applicants possess such merits. This certificate needs to have been issued by the university (competent vice-rector) or corresponding body. Furthermore, the CV model has been updated in the details that need to be included concerning having headed and/or participated in R&D projects.
As pointed out in the call, applications should preferably be submitted online through ACSUCYL'S Online Register. In order to use this, a digital certificate recognised by Spanish public authorities is required. Applicants must also be registered with the Regional Government of Castilla y Leon Citizens’ Electronic Mailbox so that they can receive electronic notifications sent out by the Agency.
