Description:

The Quality Assurance Agency for the University System in Castilla y Leon (ACSUCYL) today published in the official gazette of Castilla y León (BOCYL) the call for evaluation for the positions of assistant lecturer, lecturer and private university teaching staff, prior to the hiring of teachers for said positions by universities in the region.

Content:

Prior to teachers being hired by public universities for the positions of assistant lecturer and lecturer, the Universities Act (LOU) first requires that applicants –who must hold a PhD– pass an evaluation of their activities. For private universities, 60% positive evaluation of teaching staff holding a PhD is required.

Since 2003, the Quality Assurance Agency for the University System in Castilla y Leon (ACSUCYL) has been issuing an annual call for those interested in seeking this evaluation, which includes academic training, teaching activities, research activities, professional experience, and other merits. At its meeting on 25 July 2022, the call corresponding to 2022 was approved through an agreement of ACSUCYL'S Board of Directors.

As stipulated in the call, the deadline for submission of applications commences on 6 October and concludes on 3 November 2022.

In their application for evaluation, those interested should indicate the position or positions for which they wish to be evaluated. Together with their standard format CV, applicants must also submit the following documents:

  • Document accrediting they hold a PhD (required by current legislation in order to be hired for the above-mentioned positions).
  • Academic record accrediting that a university degree has been awarded, together with the accompanying marks or grades.
  • Certificate reflecting the teaching activities carried out.
  • Where applicable, documented justification for periods of leave of absence.
  • Documented justification of acceptance of publications admitted and pending publication.
  • Supporting documentation of patents in exploitation.
  • Certificates accrediting participation in or having led R+D+I projects.
  • Work service record and, where applicable, certificate of professional activities and credentials for posts occupied outside the academic world.

With regard to the previous call, certain changes have been made to some of the details required in the CV concerning the following merits:

  • Grants/predoctoral and postdoctoral contracts.
  • Teaching publications and teaching material.
  • Research activities: the ORCID code must be included.
  • Results of artistic creativity.

In addition, some issues related to the evaluation of scientific publications and the results of artistic creativity have also been updated. These may be consulted in the document “Guidelines for the preliminary evaluation of lecturers and private university teaching staff who hold a PhD”, available on ACSUCYL'S website.

As stated in the call, applications should preferably be submitted electronically through ACSUCYL'S online registration system. To do so, a digital certificate which has been officially recognised by Spanish public administration is required.
