The Research Assessment Committee is ACSUCYL'S collegiate body for assessment, certification and accreditation, which is responsible amongst other tasks for:
Evaluating the quality of research carried out in universities and research centres.
Issuing reports prior to the creation or affiliation of university research institutes and for the periodic evaluation of their activities.
Issuing assessment reports for the recognition of excellence research groups in Castilla y León and for evaluating their research programmes.
Issuing assessment reports prior to the awarding of funding for research projects to be carried out at universities and research centres based in Castilla y León.
The regulations governing the committee’s functioning as well as the profiles and technical requirements of its members are described in
Decreto 15/2015, de 19 de febrero, por el que se aprueba el Reglamento de la Agencia para la Calidad del Sistema Universitario de Castilla y León.
The committee is made up of ten members, who will be either public sector workers holding a PhD from university teaching staff bodies, whatever their administrative situation, who hold at least three recognised periods of research (six-year periods), or researchers who, although they do not belong to university teaching staff bodies, have a recognised professional career at a national or international level and who evidence relevant merits in the field of scientific and technical research, and who represent a balance between the various areas of knowledge.
