The Quality Assurance Agency for the University System in Castilla y Leon (ACSUCYL) convened its Student Board for an extraordinary session on 2 June in order to gather their suggestions, comments and opinions vis-à-vis the development of teaching at the universities which form part of the Castilla y Leon higher education system (SUCYL) in the face of the current health emergency.
Blanca Ares González, Director General for Universities and Research, Vice-president and acting Director of ACSUCYL, presided over the meeting, which was held online with the Student Board, and to which Pilar Garcés García, Regional Vice-Minister for Universities and Research, was also invited.
ACSUCYL’s acting director informed students of the action taken by the Spanish Network of University Quality Agencies (REACU) as a result of the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the action taken by the Agency in conjunction with universities in the Castilla y Leon higher education system.
After her talk, the floor was given to the members of the Student Board, who conveyed the current situation concerning the development of teaching at the universities they represent.
After a debate, which was described by those attending as “productive”, the key issues and challenges for the coming academic year were pinpointed. Two senior technical officers from ACSUCYL were also present at the meeting together with the coordinator of the regional directorate general for universities.
ACSUCYL'S Student Board contains one representative from each university in the Castilla y Leon higher education system who holds the post of student representative on the Social council or similar body at their university.
