Quality Assurance Agency for the University System in Castilla y León
In accordance with Royal Decree 1393/2007 , of 29 October, establishing the organisation of official university courses, official degrees listed in the University Register of Centres and Degrees (RUCT) must renew their accreditation periodically in order to retain their listing on the register and maintain their official status.
The general procedure for renewal of accreditation of a degree commences when the university issues an application to the regional authorities, who will then request a mandatory and binding report from its external assessment body, in this case ACSUCYL. The report seeks to ascertain whether the curriculum is being implemented in accordance with its initial project, by conducting an assessment that includes a visit by external experts to the university, with the report then being sent to the University Council, who will decide on the degree’s renewal of accreditation.
The assessment protocol required for renewal of accreditation has been established by the University Committee for Regulating Follow-up and Accreditation (CURSA) (208 kbytes) , a working group set up by the General Conference for University Policy in order to agree on the guidelines and protocols for follow-up and renewal of accreditation of university degrees in Spain. The assessment criteria and guidelines have been drawn up by the Red Española de Agencias de Calidad Universitaria (REACU) (534 kbytes) , in accordance with the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance of Higher Education, (ESG) :
